In the 1996 - 1997 School year, the Mitchell Elementary School of Golden, Colorado sponsored a Tile Project which allowed each of 500 students in grades K-6 design and paint a tile to be placed in their new school building.
I worked with the students from kindergarten to sixth grade helping them take their designs from paper to tile. The results were installed in every hallway in the new Mitchell Elementary School during the summer of 1997 and were there to greet the returning students in the fall.
